In 1975, M.G. (Buddy) Herring, Jr. became President and general partner of the company that was the foundation of The MGHerring Group. Under his leadership, the company grew from a staff of 10 to over 600 and became one of the top shopping center developers, winning numerous awards for management and marketing.
Herring purchased the remaining interest in the company in 1984 and founded The Herring Group. In 1989, upon the sale of The Herring Group, The MGHerring Group was formed.
The MGHerring Group worked on shopping center developments in Monterrey and Leon, Mexico. The company completed the first JCPenney and Dillard’s leases in Mexico and was responsible for the real estate of Sears de Mexico through 1996.
In 1997, The MGHerring Group resumed the development and management of shopping centers in the U.S. with projects in Georgia and Arizona and through 2005 continued to develop shopping centers, regional enclosed malls and power centers. Imperial Valley Mall opened in El Centro,California in March of 2005. The company completed its first lifestyle center – Eastern Shore Centre in Spanish Fort, Alabama – in the fall of 2004.
Today, The MGHerring Group continues to develop lifestyle centers and mixed-use developments with four new projects underway.
